A kids review on Brisingr

A few days ago I finished reading Brisingr.  For those of you who don’t know what this is, it is the third book in the Eragon series.  The author told us it would be trilogy, but now he say there is going to be a fourth book.  Mom says it mgiht become a triple trilogy. I don’t know about all of that, but I enjoyed the book immensely.  It was great fun.

You really need to read the first two books Eragon and Eldest in order to appreciate Brisingr.  Now I couldn’t really tell you anything about the plot of Brisingr because you wouldn’t understand it without some background.  In the series, the story is about Eragon, a farmboy, who becomes a dragon rider and has to fight the evils of the world.  In the first book, he starts off as about fifteen, and in Brisingar he is sixteen.

My favorite part was a sword scene where he forged his own sword.  It kept bursting into flame whenever he said, “Brisingr.”  That was funny scene and the rest of the books held my attention.

Another cool scene was when Eragon cut through magical bonds that were holding a gate from being breached.  Saphira, his dragon, came over and said, “You don’t have to be so dramatic.”

Eragon said, “I know, but it was fun anyway.” That scene made me laugh.

It’s fantasy fiction, the books are thick so you need to be an interested and good reader.  It appeals to kids my age and adults, too.  But we listened to these on tape and my little brother, who is seven, liked them, too.  Girls would probably like it because of the female dragon.  This is a book you’ll want to buy for the reader in your family as a good gift!
